5 Exfoliation Tips For Glowing Skin

by CheekyGlo Staff on April 16, 2021
Did you know that one of the most important parts, if not the most important part, of a skin care routine is exfoliation? You read that right! Other skin care products won't be effective on your skin if you have dead skin build-up that blocks them. So if you want to achieve a clear, glowing skin, you should know how to exfoliate properly!

1. Exfoliate only once or twice a week

Exfoliating your skin regularly is a good practice as you are helping your skin remove the dead skin cell build-up and reveal the fresh skin underneath. It's important to make sure that you do not over exfoliate your skin as this will result in skin irritation and redness. While redness is normal when exfoliating, if it remains red hours after or the next day, this is a sign that you are over exfoliating. Remember that your skin needs time to rest in between each deep exfoliation session.

2. Prepare your skin properly

Take a warm shower or bath for at least five minutes before exfoliating to loosen the dead skin and dirt on the surface of your body. This helps the exfoliating glove to work better and give you a deeper exfoliation for a smoother, glowing skin!

3. Don't use any product prior to exfoliating

Avoid shaving, using body wash, or scrubs before exfoliating with the CheekyGlo Exfoliating Glove. This allows your skin to stay grippy so that when the glove moves along your skin, it can grab onto all the dirt and dead skin!

Also, shaving before exfoliating won't be effective as the razor will be overloaded with dead skin cells. It is then a good practice to exfoliate before shaving not only to have a closer shave, but also to prevent ingrown hairs.

4. Use long, firm strokes

Instead of using your fingers when scrubbing with the exfoliating glove, use the palm of your hand to make long, firm strokes. Through this technique, the glove catches on to more of your dead skin, which creates that amazing peeling effect. Just note that visible peeling depends on the skin type, but your skin will be exfoliated regardless if visible peeling occurs.

5. Always moisturise after exfoliating

When you exfoliate, the oil in the skin is washed away, so we want to apply a good body lotion or oil to keep the skin hydrated and smooth. It also helps keep the skin from external triggers like aircon, pollution, and much more!
